On September 1, after a long waiting period, the day finally arrived: numerous customers from a variety of industries came to Glaubitz to visit the Ervin abrasive manufacturing plant where they gained extensive insights into the complex manufacturing processes. In addition to more than 300 different abrasives that are regularly produced part of the standard range, special custom abrasives are also produced here.
The Ervin test Centre was a popular attraction where customers were given the opportunity to try the blasting equipment for themselves. Visitors experienced at first hand the effects of different blasting media. After this hands-on session, participants discussed what they had learned and put technical questions to the Ervin team. Additional subjects discussed included supply capability and reliability due to the current circumstances in Europe, where there is a growing focus on supply chains.
Ervin’s CEO Dr. Wolfgang Assmann explained that storage capacities for raw materials have been doubled, improving security of customer supply. Manufacturing capacities and melting rates have also been increased, to around twice the original levels when the plant opened in 2015.
The success of the plant visit proved once again that face to face and group meetings have an important role to play in maintaining and building relationships between Ervin and their customers.
Sascha Berger, Sales Manager Germany, commented: “Especially in the current times, interpersonal contact – in addition to reliability and fast reaction times – is an important common success factor among partners. This will certainly not have been the last get-together with our customers of this kind.”
